Approving Common Curriculum Courses for Intensive Session Offering
Policy
Per CCC policy, departments that wish to offer Common Curriculum (CC) courses in sessions of four weeks or less (usually Winter and May sessions) must seek special approval to do so. This is to ensure that the CC content of the course is not overly diluted when the course is condensed.
Note that CCC policy prohibits allowing W-designated courses to be offered in intensive sessions.
Approval
To seek one-time approval to offer a CC course in intensive session, submit a request through CourseLeaf. You will need to include both a regular session (Fall or Spring) syllabus as well as a condensed version of the syllabus for the intensive. The Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) for both versions of the course should match, and the condensed syllabus should contain information (preferably in the recommended table) that aligns the CC content with graded course assignments.
Please note that, as with all course review, approval may take several weeks, so please plan accordingly.
